Experience

Background

Janett is a native of Washington State. She enjoys reading, practicing yoga and spending time outdoors. Prior to receiving her formal education as a therapist, she worked extensively with children and teens as a swimming instructor, was a competitive youth swimming coach, and a camp counselor. For the last six years, she has worked in elementary, middle and high schools, as well as an office setting, providing therapy to children and teens experiencing emotional and behavioral problems. She shares her home with a grey cat named Capone, a rescue shepherd mix named Kua and her husband, Mike.

Education

Janett earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Marriage and Family Therapy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology from Western Washington University. She regularly attends professional trainings related to children, adolescents and parenting.

Professional Affiliations

Janett is a Child Mental Health Specialist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as defined by the State of Washington. Janett is a member of the Washington Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT), the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the American Psychological Association (APA). Janett’s past professional experiences includes: mentor to families experiencing domestic violence, primary care medical clinic behavioral staff, therapist in self-contained middle school classroom and counseling  K-12 students in a public school setting.
