Experience

Background

Janett is a native of Washington State. She enjoys reading, running with her dog Kua, and spending time outside when it isn’t raining. She has extensive experience working with children and their families including teaching swim instruction to children, coaching competitive youth swimming, and working as a camp counselor prior to receiving her formal education as a counselor. More recently, she has worked in the public school system providing therapy to children and teens experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties. She also has a grey cat named Capone .

Education

Janett earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Marriage and Family Therapy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology from Western Washington University. She regularly attends professional trainings and most recently attended a training on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.

Professional Affiliations

Janett is a Child Mental Health Specialist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as defined by the State of Washington. Janett is a member of the Washington Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT) and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Janett’s past professional experiences includes: mentor to families experiencing with domestic violence, primary care clinic behavioral staff, therapist in self-contained middle school classroom and counseling  K-12 students in a public school setting.
